Southbound: Photographs Of and About the New South

Various Artists

About the Exhibition

Southbound is comprised of fifty-six photographers’ visions of the South over the first decades of the twenty-first century. Accordingly, it offers a composite image of the region, ranging from stories told about the South as a bastion of tradition to a region remade through Americanization and globalization, and as a land full of surprising realities. The many works in the exhibition are the result of these artists’ long, hard, sustained thinking about, looking at, journeying to, and discovery of this multifaceted New South, and speak to the history, complexity, and ongoing transformation of our region.

Organized by the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art at the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC. LEARN MORE ABOUT SOUTHBOUND HERE.
