Black Professionals at the Hunter
Black Professionals at the Hunter is a series of art-focused social events at the museum that has been held bimonthly since 2018. Each program is a celebration of community, culture, and connections. This free bimonthly series is designed by and created for all area Black professionals.
BPATH events feature:
- Community - Gathering of local Black professionals from a wide variety of industries and Chattanooga experiences, gathering for an exclusive night just for local Black professionals
- Culture - Each event includes BPATH committee-led gallery experiences exploring artworks created by Black artists, performances by local Black creatives and food, photography, and event services provided by Black-owned businesses
- Connections - Planned and organic networking opportunities are built into each event for attendees to connect in a creative space
Since its launch, BPATH has showcased more than 130 local creatives, nearly 50 Black-owned businesses, and dozens of works by Black artists in the Hunter galleries.
From lifelong Chattanoogans to newcomers, from those starting their careers to those at the executive level, BPATH attendees form a community seeking a space curate for and by Black Chattanoogans who connect through experiencing and celebrating Black creativity and excellence.

Noel W. Anderson
Symbolic imagery can be a subtle and very effective means of communicating ideas in both art and literature. After exploring examples of symbols in the Hunter’s permanent collection and viewing the symbolic imagery in Noel Anderson’s Hands Up, learners will create self-expressive collages that incorporate symbols, reflecting their own perspectives on America.

Elizabeth Catlett
Artist, teacher, and social activist Elizabeth Catlett was best known for her work in printmaking and sculpture.

Art Animals and Ecosystem
Animals, both real and imaginary, have played an important role in art. From scientific illustrations documenting native wildlife to raven rattles* used in important ceremonies, art helps us understand and connect with the natural world. Use this activity to discover animals in the Hunter’s collection and explore the relationship between animals and their ecosystems.
Black Creativity at the Hunter
