Student Symposium: Creating Calm in Times of Chaos

Saturday, April 4

Inspired by the Hunter’s installation Jessica Wohl: I Dreamed You Were Here, the Hunter’s 13th annual student symposium features undergraduate papers examining art created to bring order, reflect on ideas, or offer calm amid chaos.

Artist Jessica Wohl will be the special guest speaker. Respondents include Dr. Bart Pushaw and Dr. Amber Hickey, both Assistant Professors of Art History at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  

Students Presenting:

  • Ella Swift, Sewanee - Parallel Times: Constructing Uniquely New Spanish Calendrical Systems in the Sixteenth Century
  • B Davis Fleming, Furman - Flirting on the F Train: Transitory Spaces and the Young Artist in 1980s New York  
  • Olivia Uzuncan, Southern Methodist University, Taking Measure: Process and Architectural Memory in the Work of Do Ho Suh
