With its magnificent views of the Tennessee River, the Walnut Street Bridge, and the North Shore, the Hunter Museum of American Art is the perfect backdrop for your personal or professional event. The exceptional architecture – from the historical mansion to the serene style of the contemporary building – makes your special moments unforgettable. No matter the size of your event, the special events staff at the Hunter Museum is well-equipped to help you make it a masterpiece.

With so much stunning indoor and outdoor space, there are a variety of beautiful ways to arrange your perfect evening! Receptions may begin as early as 6pm.

Many clients choose to host a cocktail hour on the River Terrace, then move inside for dinner. An outdoor reception overlooking the river is magnificent too. There is always the option to move your event inside, and the Grand Atrium offers spectacular views with climate control!

There is a private space for the bridal party to get dressed and an area for the family and groomsmen to relax between photos. For the reception, the Grand Atrium and Auditorium open into one another, creating nearly 4,000 square feet of space. This area adjoins a small terrace and has soaring 40-foot windows. These two spaces can accommodate your guests for either a cocktail or seated reception. There’s a stage for a band or DJ and plenty of room to dance.

Looking for the most inspiring location for your rehearsal dinner? The Hunter is an elegant venue for a rehearsal dinner. The Grand Atrium can accommodate up to 180 guests banquet style and 300 guests cocktail style. With its forty foot windows and outdoor terrace, the Grand Atrium offers a stunning backdrop for a rehearsal dinner.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better venue for our wedding reception. Having mostly out of town guests, the Hunter Museum is the perfect way to showcase Chattanooga. It was breathtaking. The staff was so easy to work with, so accommodating, and they did everything in their power to make sure we had the best night of our lives!!!”
