Access in Museums with artist Shannon Finnegan

Saturday, Mar 26, 2022

Join us for an interactive discussion of ableism and access in public spaces guided by artist Shannon Finnegan. Finnegan is a Brooklyn-based artist whose work brings attention to the experiences of disabled people and the physical, social, and economic barriers to equal access in public spaces. Finnegan's work is on view at the Hunter, on loan from Stoveworks where the artist is currently doing a residency.

The Hunter is a wheelchair-accessible building. Wheelchairs and strollers are available free of charge at Visitor Services. Service dogs are welcome in the building. Seating will be available for the event, and we'll select a location in the museum with minimal ambient noise. Shannon will visually describe any images that are part of their presentation. ASL interpretation is available upon request. Please contact the Manager of Outreach and Access Programs Athena Buxton at abuxton@huntermuseum.org  or 423.752.0999 by Wednesday, March 23 to request. If you have any other access needs or questions, please reach out to Athena.
