The Hunter Museum of American Art is always actively looking for docents to be the exciting link between art and the community. We are seeking energetic volunteers who enjoy working with others, particularly school children. No background in art or teaching is necessary. We are looking for people who have a love for learning and sharing American Art with others.
Docents will receive first-rate training on the history of American art, culture, and teaching techniques in the Hunter's collection. New docents will have the opportunity to learn both from Education Department staff and from experienced docents as you observe tours held on other weekday mornings.
Docent training is held twice per year, in late summer and at the beginning of the year. This 18 hour training course includes training on methods used in the galleries and the content of our collection. If you would like to be part of this wonderful experience, please contact Education and Tour Specialist, Linda Millard for more information. Or download the application here.
Existing Hunter Docents can access our Docent Secure Site for the latest news and tour updates.
