CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (August 18, 2014) – Registration is now open for the Hunter Museum of American Art’s fall classes, Art After School, which offer two series of lessons each semester in an array of artistic pursuits ranging from painting and sculpture to photography and textile making.  Classes take place once a week after school at the Hunter Museum with a focus on artistic adventure through the world of American art and creating art with new methods and materials. Each session will come to a close with an art exhibition, where students can share their creative masterpieces with family and friends. Supplies are included.

Fall Session 1: From Film to Filters: Photography
Age Group: 10-12
Cost: $60 Member $90 General
When:  Thursdays, 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.  August 28-September 25

Description: Take a look at the world through a different lens—a camera lens! During this first fall session of Art After School, we’ll discover the early beginnings of the camera and snap our way into the digital age. From film to filters, we’ll experiment with a variety of photographic tools. Say cheese!

Fall Session 2: All That Glitters: Jewelry Making
Age Group: 10-12
Cost: $60 Member $90 General
When:  Thursdays, 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m.  October 16-November 13

Description:  More than just bling, jewelry is one of the oldest archaeological artifacts. People have made and worn jewelry for centuries to celebrate, decorate, and everything in between. In this session of Art After School, we’ll be working with a collection of materials to create our own unique adornments (to wear and to share). Join us in making something for future archaeologists to discover and also to show off your distinctive artistic style!

The ages for each of the series vary in an effort to include children of all age ranges, so be sure to visit for specific classes or contact studio coordinator, Rachel Veal, to find out more information at (423) 752-2051 or
