Often known as the father of studio glass, Harvey Littleton helped fashion a technique to allow artists to blow glass in their studios rather than in a factory settings. To create work like Red-Blue Sliced Pair, Littleton swings a blowpipe with a gather of molten glass until it forms an arched shape. When it cools, he cuts and polishes the work into its finished state.
