Storytelling is an ancient art expressed in both words and pictures. Illustrations have become essential in children's books and are welcomed in all genres and levels of literature from magazines and newspapers to textbooks and books read for entertainment.
This camp allows students to explore the story and storytelling in visual and verbal form through illustrating traditional stories and creating the pictures to tell a story of their own imagining. They will use a variety of techniques from printmaking to painting in a variety of forms books and newspaper included to communicate their stories and ideas.
This camp is a collaboration with the Open Press and the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
