Travel into the world of featured exhibit artist Elliott Daingerfield with distinguished scholar Erin Corrales-Diaz, the Johnson Collection Curator.

The talk is entitled "The Genius of the Canyon: The Visionary Vistas of Elliott Daingerfield" Known for his mystical and ethereal landscape paintings, Elliott Daingerfield became captivated by the Grand Canyon while on a sketching expedition sponsored by the Santa Fe Railway in late 1910. For the southern-born artist, the geological wonder of the American southwest became a source of inspiration, generating an unusual body of work between 1911 and 1915. “The Genius of the Canyon: The Visionary Vistas of Elliott Daingerfield,” will explore the southern artist’s connection to a geological formation in the southwest as it relates to his practice of spiritual vision and aesthetic philosophy.

The Art Wise series is generously sponsored by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee Community Trust with additional support from Sally and Buddy Faulkner. Media support provided by Brewer Media.
