A Challenge Is Issued

Have you ever met anyone who has not had the joy of visiting an art museum? Believe it or not there are quite a few. A lot of these folks live right here in Chattanooga.

Chances are if you are reading this, then I can assume that you already have an interest in the arts. You’ve found our website, clicked the appropriate amount of times and here you are. We often wonder how many people actually read the blog entries we write and we hope that our observances and musings about life at the Hunter strike the fancy of our visitors. I can’t count the number of times that I’ve talked to complete strangers about where I work and they often reveal something along the lines of, “I haven’t been to the Hunter since the (insert elementary grade level here)”.

Listen up……this isn’t your grandma’s Hunter Museum. As a collecting institution we acquire new works every year, we have excellent exhibitions that rotate every few months, weekly events on Thursday nights, a truckload of education programs, as well as member benefits like exhibit openings and trips, and a whole lot more.

Reader….you probably already know all of this. Here is my challenge to you: find someone who doesn’t. Bring someone in that hasn’t been since the 4th grade. Bring a friend, family member, your neighbor down the street that you never talk to even though they live only three houses down. Make a day out of it. Show them what a world-class art museum they have right here in Chattanooga. When you get here tell the front desk to call down for me and if I’m here and not out and about then I will be more than happy to come up and show you around myself. I’d love to meet you.

Remember, the Hunter belongs to Chattanooga. Take advantage of it! I hope to see you soon!
