You Call the Shots

You can now find the Hunter on Twitter, Facebook, You Tube and Flickr.

As we grow our online presence we are constantly developing programs that bring the virtual and physical museum together. In February of this year the Hunter participated in the Wikipedia Loves Art photography scavenger hunt and contest. Wikipedia Loves Art asked teams and individuals to go to their participating museum and take photographs of images based on a scavenger hunt developed by the museum. We had a few teams sign up and a handful of pictures submitted to the WLA Flickr pool. In that same month the Hunter hosted its first ChattUp, I Heard a Tweet, for 100+ people. ChattUp attendees mingled with other Twitter users, participated in a collaborative art work, enjoyed Lesley Dill's opera Divide Light and her exhibition I Heard a Voice:the Art of Lesley Dill.

So we're off to a great start and people seem to be enjoying the Hunter in whole new ways, but what's next? We've been brainstorming about some additional online contest, such as a raccoon naming contest where followers would submit names for the Hunter's raccoon and vote for the winning name on Twitter.

Also discussed was a Jellies photo contest where visitors to the Jellies exhibit would add images of their visit to the Hunter's Flickr pool to win free passes. We are also looking into hosting another meetup at the Hunter this fall.

But really... we want to hear from you! We want to create programs, activities and contests that enhance your online and physical visits/experiences with the Hunter. We would love to hear your feedback on our ideas as well as any ideas you might have for the Hunter that bring together the virtual and physical museum and visitor.

We're waiting to hear from you! Make the Hunter your museum by playing a part in the planning of events. You know where to find us ;).

P.S. To those of you following the raccoon drama on Twitter the picture above is not said raccoon, but rather a stand in until I can get a picture of the bugger that lives somewhere below my window.
