High school students and teens are often an underserved audience at museums. Here at the Hunter we recognize that teens are interested in the arts and have found a new way to reach out to teenagers in Hamilton County.
In November the Hunter staff formed a new group called the Hunter Teen Advisory Council....or HTAC for short. HTAC is small group of teens who work with the Manager of School and Outreach Programs to create programming for teens throughout the year and already they are off to a great start.
This January HTAC will announce the Sixty Second Film Festival. Members of HTAC will choose a work of art at the Hunter and participants will be invited to create short (60 seconds or less) films based around the artwork. The top submissions will be posted on the Hunter's website for the public to view and vote on. On May 21, 2009 the winners will be announced at the Hunter.
HTAC is also working on new ways to engage teens through studio programs, gallery programs and evening events. If you have ideas for HTAC, email Hassan Najjar at hnajjar@huntermuseum.org and check out the teen section of our website for upcoming teen events and announcements.
