Description: Sand is so much more than soil—it can be castle-building material, animal habitat or a basic ingredient in artistic expression. The Hunter Museum of American Art teams up with the Tennessee Aquarium to take campers on a voyage of discovery to learn about sand and its uses in the worlds of art and nature. This camp gives youngsters the opportunity to learn and play in the place where art and animals meet. Campers will experience sand as soil, as an animal product, as an engine that drives animal adaptations and as a medium in art. As part of the experience campers will explore the Hunter’s special exhibition of glass work by renowned artist William Morris. Early registration is open to members of both the Hunter Museum and the Aquarium. Pick-up and drop-off for “Aquart” are at the Aquarium.

* Member Registration for Aquart is through the Aquarium on Monday, March 3, beginning at 9 am. Non-Member Registration is Monday, March 17, beginning at 9 am. Register your child on-line at http://www.tnaqua.org or by phone at (423) 785-4176 from 9 am to 4:45 pm.
